Maternal mortality remains the main problem of obstetrics in the world. Among the main manageable causes of maternal mortality, directly dependending on the timeliness and quality of the provided obstetric care, obstetric bleeding takes a leading position.

According to the WHO, about 830 women die every day from preventable causes associated with pregnancy and childbirth, with 99% of maternal losses occurring in developing countries. Uterine balloon tamponade provides a mechanical effect by means of balloon inserted into the uterine cavity and filled with a warm sterile solution on the vessels of the placental site, which are the main source of bleeding.
